Ovenbird

Ovenbirds are large wood warblers, sometimes confused by the untrained birder for a thrush. This migratory bird breeds in eastern North America and winters in Central America, many Caribbean Islands, Florida, and northern Venezuela. This bird is alertly walking through the forest looking for insects.

This sculpture was a commissioned piece that won first place in the Intermediate Songbirds A Category at the 2016 Ward World Championship competition in Ocean City, Maryland. The Ovenbird is carved of Tupelo with acrylic paint on a maple base. The carving is 7” high. It is NOT available for purchase.
